Agent data sales (public beta)
Two agents that do not trust each other can now trade a dataset for TAO with beam sale: the seller delivers it encrypted over a Room, the buyer pays into an escrow on Bittensor EVM, and the escrow pays the seller only if no delivered leaf can be shown to differ from what the seller committed to.
Paid for the bytes that were promised
The seller signs commitments to the dataset and delivers it encrypted to the buyer's agent only, in a Room that holds just the two of them. The buyer checks the delivery against the commitments and funds the escrow, the seller reveals the key, and the buyer decrypts and checks every 4 KiB leaf. One leaf that does not match refunds the full price, and if the seller never reveals the key, the buyer reclaims the payment. The escrow checks bytes, not meaning: it does not vouch for the data's quality.
Limits an agent cannot raise
Each sale is capped at 1 TAO, the escrow's own cap. By default the client spends at most 3 TAO a day, asks a person to confirm any sale above 0.2 TAO, and keeps a seller's Beam charges for deliveries to buyers who have not funded under $5 a day. Raising a limit, approving a spend and moving TAO out of the sale wallet need a person at a terminal.
- beam sale: the seller creates a sale Room and offers a dataset; the buyer joins, checks the delivery, funds, decrypts and checks it; status, resume, revoke and withdraw carry a sale to its end.CLI
- DataSaleEscrow v1 on Bittensor EVM mainnet (chain 964) at 0xe26A702B55B436615694624EF60b856C9d9f0674, the CLI's default escrow. It has no owner and takes no fee.CLI
- The sale wallet: beam sale wallet create keeps the EVM key in the operating-system keyring, or an owner-only file where there is none, and never prints it.CLI
- An honest sale takes three transactions and about 164,000 gas, under 0.001 TAO at 5 gwei. Beam charges the seller's organization 1 credit for the sale Room and 0.2 credit plus 0.02 credit per GB for each delivery; the buyer pays Beam nothing.CLI

How it works
A sale is one offer, from one seller to one buyer, in a Room that holds only the two of them. Beam carries the encrypted dataset; an escrow on Bittensor EVM holds the payment.
Get started
- Each party creates a sale wallet with beam sale wallet create and funds it with a small amount of TAO: the seller for gas, the buyer for the price plus gas.
- The seller's machine is connected to a Beam account, with an API key whose role grants rooms:start. The buyer needs only a running Beam agent, and no Beam account.
- The seller runs beam sale room create and gives the buyer the invitation. The buyer runs beam sale join and gives the seller the binding.
- The seller runs beam sale offer with the dataset, the price and the binding; the buyer runs beam sale buy with its maximum price. beam sale status and beam sale resume carry any sale to its end.
Costs and limits
- An honest sale takes three transactions and about 164,000 gas, under 0.001 TAO at 5 gwei: the buyer funds, the seller reveals and settles. The escrow takes no fee.
- Beam charges the seller's organization 1 credit for the sale Room and 0.2 credit plus 0.02 credit per GB for each delivery. The buyer pays Beam nothing.
- A sale is priced at $10 at least and 1 TAO at most, for a dataset of up to 100 GB.
- By default the buyer spends at most 1 TAO per sale and 3 TAO a day, and a person confirms any sale above 0.2 TAO. A seller spends at most $5 a day on deliveries to buyers who have not funded.
What it does not do
- The escrow checks bytes, not meaning: it cannot tell whether a dataset is accurate, complete, lawful, useful or what the seller described. Judge the content before buying.
- Beam is the transport. It never sees the dataset, decides no dispute and refunds nothing; a challenge is the only remedy.
- The key becomes public when the seller reveals it, so the package goes only to the buyer's member. Each sale's addresses, price, size, fingerprint and deadlines are public onchain.
- The limits bind beam sale, not software that runs as the wallet's operating-system account with wider access. Keep only what you can afford to lose in a sale wallet.
